5. Fashion Design

Fashion design is the formation of creative works for specific purposes which may include utility, clothing, decoration, identification, beautification, style, or expression of personality and status. The study of fashion design in an Innovative Enterprise Institution (IEI) equips trainees with skills in cutting & sewing art/techniques, clothing construction, pattern development, garment designing & production, fashion merchandising & marketing.

You will acquire competence in the understanding of shapes, colours, body anatomy, cosmetology & beauty, show production & photography, customer relations, costuming, apparel manufacturing, computer application in fashion design, and so on.

Personality Type for Fashion Design

Artistic ability to sketch, draw, and interpret shapes is important. You need to be self-motivated, able to meet deadlines, and be aware of trends. You should also possess a genuine desire to make people look gorgeous.

NBTE’s Objectives for NID in Fashion Design

A product of NID in Fashion Design Therapy should be able to:

Create collections of garment
Perform all process of garment pattern making
Properly lay and cut materials using the patterns made
Properly lay and cut materials using the patterns made
Effectively use sewing machines to construct garments
Check for correct fit of the garments
Check for faults on examined finished garment for quality certification
Package finished product for sale
Produce fashion accessories and
Market the produced garment and accessories.
