Created by Bee Spelling Competition Initiative, an NGO. The competition is held at state, zonal and national levels where winners at every stage are rewarded with prizes. This educational competition is aimed at bringing out the best in every Nigerian students and showing the spelling prowess of Nigerians to the world.
Nigeria Spelling Bee, 2018 is already underway with state level qualifier series. It’s open to individual secondary school students or school representatives. Participants will be asked to spell English words and selected words from the three major Nigerian languages. Top spellers will win scholarships ranging between ₦250,000 and ₦1,000,000 and represent Nigeria at African Spelling Bee Competition.

CowbellPedia
CowbellPedia is a secondary school mathematics TV quiz show. This makes it 20th year of its existence in Nigeria and the organizers are not calm with the anniversary edition! This educational competition is sponsored by Promasidor, maker of the Cowbell brand and supported by NECO. It is aimed at recognizing and rewarding excellence in the subject area of Mathematics.
It’s important you know that registration for 2018 edition of CowbellPedia is ongoing and will close on February 11, 2018 ahead of the national qualifying examination coming up on Saturday February 17, 2018. The first stage of the competition is a qualifying written examination across the nation for students in JSS3 and SSS2 in both private and public schools.
Winning prizes include ₦1,000,000 for 3rd position; ₦1,500,000 for 2nd position and ₦2,000,000 for 1st position. Cash gifts for teachers of the winning students range between ₦300,000 and ₦500,000 while their schools will be gifted with computers and printers.

National Computer JETS Competition
Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientists (JETS) is a major project coordinated by the Department of Technology and Science Education under the purview of the Federal Ministry of Education. Schools inclusive of public and private are expected to maintain a vibrant JETS club monitored by qualified teachers. At least one JETS teacher is to represent each school at a national conference where among other things, information about JETS activities and topic for the year is disseminated. Then respective schools carry out projects and inventions on the topic. Competitions are held at state levels, regional levels and at national levels. This educational competition has always been a lot of fun for participants, accompanied with national and international accolade and rewards for winners.
NNPC National Quiz Competition
As part of it Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) organizes this National quiz competition, making investment in the future manpower of the country. The competition takes place among secondary schools at the state, regional and national levels. International Mathematics Olympiad
This educational competition is organized at the world level for high school students. It is held annually and hosted by different nations. The 2017 edition was held in Morocco, Indonesia and Brazil. Build up to this event is the National Mathematics Olympiad, where students compete in Mathematics and Physics. National winners apart from receiving rewards at this stage go ahead to represent the country at the international Olympiad. Last year, the Nigerian government offered scholarships to five students for making the country proud at the Olympiad. Registration form for this education competition can be obtained at the state ministry of education.
STAN National Science Quiz Competition
Organized by Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and sponsored in the past 23 years by Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), the Mobil/STAN National Science quiz competition entertains fierce intellectual exercise among primary schools as well as secondary school categories nationwide. There is another category for science teachers project. Winners are splashed with sumptuous cash rewards to encourage excellent performance and innovation in STEM.
Mathematics Kangaroo
Arguably the largest Mathematics competition in the world. Organized by the Association Kangourou Sans Frontieres, an independent association with the aim of promoting mathematics among young people around the world. It attracted 6 million participants from 65 countries in 2016, though Nigeria was absent. This educational competition, Mathematics Kangaroo is supervised in Nigeria by Prof Adewale Solarin, a former Director-general of National Mathematics Centre (NMC).
