UNESCO in partnership with Juventus FC is organizing a free photo contest on the theme: How Football Promotes and Foster Inclusion, Unity and Tolerance, and Overcomes Discrimination. Entries in the photo contest is fully online in compliance with a few simple guidelines and terms.
The global reach of football is quite enormous, in fact FIFA said 3.2 billion people watched the World Cup finals in Brazil 2014. Many individuals have a memory of playing football with friends in school fields or in the street using varieties of goalposts. Considering the popularity and appeal to individuals, football has proven to be a powerful connecting factor between people of different cultures and nationalities. The influence is massive!
In view of this, UNESCO and Juventus are calling for entries from everywhere in the world as we harness the power of football to spread a message of peace and tolerance through unique football stories. It’s going to crystallize in an online movement where pictures tell a thousand words.
What to do?
All you need to do is send a photo portraying the potential of football to promote inclusion, overcome stereotypes, and overturn discrimination in all its forms. UNESCO and Juventus are giving you the opportunity to share your football story with the world for a chance of winning prizes and featuring in a campaign video. You are required to send your photo to WhatColour@unesco.org along with a 150-200 word testimony (in English or French). Your write-up should explain how football promotes inclusion, unity and tolerance, and overcomes discrimination. Submission should be accompanied with your names, contact details and profession.
Submission deadline
It opened on April 6, 2018 and closes on May 6, 2018
Eligibility
The photo contest is open to everyone regardless of country of residence, except employees of UNESCO and Juventus and their family members. Minors may participate but with the provision of written permission from their legal guardian(s).
Winning Prizes
The contest will produce a minimum of three winners and seven runners up to be published by UNESCO on May 12, 2018. The three winners will receive a Canon DSLR camera (or equivalent) each. They as well as the runners up will also receive a personalized Juventus shirt 2017/2018 and a football.
Winning photographs will be selected among others based on their originality, creativity, photographic quality and relevance to the theme. The choice will be made according to the discretion of the judges. No appeals will be considered.
