Here comes another opportunity to dazzle like a million star in the Nigeria Student Innovation Challenge, SIC 2018. It had been treated with just a passing look until the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo tweeted about it on March 3 via his verified account @ProfOsinbajo.
The Student Innovation Challenge is about innovation, creativity and collaboration. Undergraduates from Nigerian universities and polytechnics are invited to register their innovative ideas as individuals or as groups. The innovation must solve an identified local problem in the community. All entries will be screened and 100 innovators fit for startup shall be selected to pitch their ideas, learn the skills required to start and grow a successful business, and perfect the art of pitch delivery. They will also have the opportunity of joining a network of successful enterprising innovators and receive business development support.
Thereafter, finalists from the boot camp will demonstrate their ideas to either the President or the VP, investors and other stakeholders in the public and private sectors. At the Demo event, applicants will have 3 minutes to pitch their ideas and 5 minutes to respond to questions from panelists. There will be time for exhibition and interaction with potential investors. 30 finalist will then be selected to receive ₦1,000,000.00 each in seed fund to turn their innovation to businesses.
SIC is a public-private collaboration supported by the Federal Government of Nigeria – @NGRPresident, Bank of Industry – @BoiNigeria, and the Civic Foundation for Innovation – @CiviciLab. Here goes one of the posts retweeted by Prof. Osinbajo…
