Feeling Unloved Or Hopeless?

Jackie Chan, at the beginning of his career could have been disgruntled comparing his own popularity with that of Bruce Lee, but he dared to hope, discovered himself and flaunt his own uniqueness. He said "I never wanted to be the next Bruce Lee, I just wanted to be the first Jackie Chan." Today, he is loved and celebrated in the movie industry.

Unloved or Hopeless

As a guest writer on this platform, I offer to serve you highly inspiring nuggets, straight from my heart. Make sure you don’t miss any of my posts!

Feeling Unloved or Hopeless?

H – Hankering for
O – Opportunities and
P – Positive
E – Experience

We all live in the face of this word, H.O.P.E, but sometimes, our expectations are never met. Naturally, you’ll think a child should always be loved and cared for, but as children start to grow into adolescence or teenage, they become aware of different shades of emotional environments.

Read this excerpt from Ada’s Ordeal…

"I once returned from a youth camp, grinning with high hope, only to be welcomed with a hostile attitude. The house was bedeviled with division and obvious hatred. All iota of hope I was coming with died instantly! On another occasion, I was beaten mercilessly and told, I would have been better off as an aborted child. I am seriously considering leaving the house to wherever…I am tired! Home is a place of despair and sorrow! I really wish I was not born at all. I am living with serious doubt about everyone, I don’t think I can ever be loved. I wonder if I will be able to love anyone or have my own family. Seriously doubtful!"

Ummm! Many adolescents and teenagers are going through similar experience as Ada’s. They feel like disappearing into thin air or any other place but home. A thick cloud of hopelessness eclipses their outlook daily, and they go around wondering what the essence of life is. If you are in such situation and reading this, hold-on, I have a few words for you. This situation will soon be over. If you are feeling unloved and hopeless, know that, the situation is temporary, you will soon shine.

BECOME RESPONSIBLE

It is quite easy to blame every other person, but in all honesty, it’s possible you’ve dropped the ball somehow. Check, could you have talked, behaved or done things better?. If you discover an area of weakness, don’t defer action, even if it means to apologize, confess, or say the truth. This can lead to temporary blame, emotional or physical scolding, but in the long-run, the truth you habitually say will accumulate and you’ll be loved for been a honest person. Your conscience becomes strengthened, you find it easy to do the right thing always or reveal your mistake. In addition, you need to be responsible at home or wherever you find yourself. You would be seen as a liability if you don’t take responsibility. No one likes a liability, but you are not a liability, you are responsible. Everyone admires a responsible person, this is who you are!

ASK FOR NECESSARY HELP

You don’t have to go to bed hungry; you don’t have to drop out of school; you don’t have to go homeless or walk naked; you don’t have to prostitute your precious virtues. Help is always around you, especially in your circle of influence, where you are relevant and responsible. With a sense of assurance, I assert that, if you are responsible and relevant, you won’t lack those necessities. Don’t feel too shy to make your needs known to people in your social circle. Remember that this situation is temporary, you too will soon become a giver, so endeavour to ask for help when you need one.

LEARN ALL YOU CAN

Our orientation environment such as, the place and the family where we are born are things we can’t change. All we can change is the way we think and react to them. So take every experience as a learning process where you are been groomed to know how not to treat people or how to treat them better. What you are going through may be what you must go through to be better positioned to help someone in the future. Put everything into proper perspective and learn all you can. Soldiers go through a lot of hardship while in training, but because they are aware of the purpose and the future glory, they persist. Let this hopelessness dissipate, you will soon be decorated with stars, like a general in the army.
