Overview
Truly, no student would like to think of other options to a university education at the point of application for matriculation exams. But the time has come for you to face reality and stop this unnecessary waste of time. It should interest you to note that in this 21st Century, there are career skills which do not require university degrees to acquire.
Aside from universities, polytechnics, mono-technics, and colleges of education, we now have Innovation Enterprise Institutions (IEIs). These institutions are approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide authentic optional path to higher education. They are mainly private institutions offering remarkable courses capable of establishing you as an entrepreneur or boosting your CV, skill and/or employability. Entrants into IEIs are basically secondary school leavers and working adults with a minimum of 5 credits passes in Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC), or its equivalents of National Business Certificate (NBC), or National Technical Certificate (NTC), in not more than two sittings.
Students are trained to think creatively, critically and transform knowledge to wealth and broader economic base. Graduates of formal academic institutions who need to rejig their skill are also welcomed. On completion of 2 years full time or 3-4 years part-time course, you’ll be awarded National Innovation Diploma (NID). Approved IEIs with accredited courses are listed in the current JAMB brochure. The courses include the following:
