Why Money Miracle Stories by Preachers Don’t Work for Their Followers

Money Miracle

You might have heard preachers share testimony like…"we needed this particular amount to complete the project but there was nothing in the account. However, we kept holding onto God, trusting and praising Him, for He is able to do exceedingly,… Then, someone we never knew just came around and drop the exact amount. Glory be to God!"

Fantastic, isn’t it? And God does that a lot! When you hear such testimonies, you’re filled with faith and high expectation, that within that week as prophesied by the servant of God, "you’re the next to testify!"

But I wish preachers have feedback mechanism to analyze data concerning the money miracle being invoked through those testimonies. This will help them to know what is working and what is not working with a view to improving on the delivery of their meritorious tasks. My hypothetical submission is that, such pronouncement which momentarily stimulates excitement soon becomes religious platitude that provokes frustration. Because money miracle doesn’t happen in tandem with the intensity of passion and expectation invested in it’s communication cycle.

The purpose of this post is to awaken preachers to the alarming rate at which people are going into crime due to poverty and frustration. This will help them to channel the Sword of the Spirit towards critical targets as the need arises. Realities in the third world countries is an insult to the grace, available in the kingdom of God.

Why Money Miracle Stories Don’t Work

Imagine someone offering quality service to no less than a thousand customers in a day, may be twice a week. Though the service is free, an average customer who gets good value from the product/service would naturally want to reciprocate in kind (word, attitude, service, gift) or in cash, either immediately or sometime in the future. That’s the picture of a preacher. They render communication service between God and humanity. Consequently, it is more likely that God inspires a satisfied customer, unknown to the preacher to place a reward in his/her hand.

Now imagine someone, who offers neither service nor product; who doesn’t meet needs for, even fifty people in a whole week; who is probably hostile to neighbors or unfriendly. If this fellow hears that faith-stirring testimony from the pulpit and screams amen like thunder. How do you think it is likely for God to send an angel to deliver money miracle? This is the position of the crowd in pews in this part of the world.

Unless that preacher behind pulpit wields the Sword of the Spirit appropriately, Christianity in Africa may continue to be wide as sea but not deeper than a finger length. Jesus tells us the best money making stories of all time from where we can draw timeless inspiration. One of them is the Parable of talent (Matthew 25:14-30). Personally, the instruction I received from that parable is, be responsible, do business!

Money Making Index (MMI) is the product of Quality (product/service) and Quantity (sold). Money miracle prophecy will continue to end in frustration unless you sell something (product/service). It is not the character of God to give "wealth gotten by vanity" (Proverbs 13:11) because it is not sustainable. That is why" …it is He who gives you the POWER to get wealth" (Deut 8:18).
