In order to achieve goal #8 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – "Promote Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth, Employment and Decent Work for All" – this is where it has to start. Staggeringly, over 75 million young people around the world, aged 15-24 are unemployed, out of school and looking at a bleak future. This ugly trend will surely reverse once we ensure children are raised to their maximum potentials before adulthood.

As a guest writer on this platform, I offer to serve you highly inspiring nuggets, straight from my heart. Make sure you don’t miss any of my posts!
ALL IT TAKES TO RAISE A SUCCESSFUL CHILD
As parts of all it takes to raise a successful child, I previously mentioned Prayer Plan, Nutrition Plan, Formal Education Plan and Family Education Plan. In case you missed it, please read it up in few seconds…All It Takes To Raise A Successful Child. A post titled Cultivating Your Child’s Intellect written by Seyi Dipo himself, would as well help you to appreciate how some of these factors play out in bringing up an intellectually successful child. If you’re ready, following are the concluding elements, expedient for raising the desired generations of successful children.
5. PLAN ON THE CHILD’S ENVIRONMENT
Farmers know that getting desirable yield is not just about having high quality seed, the environment in which the seed is planted is equally important. Likewise is the case with a child whom the parents nourishes well and adequately prayed for. Environment matters as well! Two major environments that a child has to interact with are the residence and the school. important elements in those environments include the communities of people, suitable accommodation, functional infrastructure, school-house proximity, standard services and commodities, hygiene, safety and security. Did you notice that well educated, rich families cluster up in a particular location, especially in the less egalitarian societies of the world? Most times, it’s not because they enjoy the exorbitant cost of dwelling in such locality, but functional environment is of high priority to them. However, functional environments don’t have to be evasive or expensive. In fact, there are families who find themselves in such environment but could not make the most of it because lack proper objectives or dwell for the wrong reasons.
A model of functional environment would be a University community. If you have observed, almost all, if not all of the aforementioned elements are obtainable in an average University community. The child of a University staff would not have to transport miles daily before getting to or back from school, consequently, he/she could afford to spend two hours in the library before turning-up for class. He/she is influenced daily by a community of people who live purposefully and strive to achieve laudable goals. Little wonder, you would observe that the families who live in such environment are more likely to perpetuate generations of successful successors. While I am not suggesting that you have to live in a University environment to achieve this feat, you could observe a near-perfect or desirable situation that is available in other clime and domesticate it wherever you find yourself or make the necessary shifts. Necessary shifts or adjustment may include making your children attend boarding schools or relocating to a desirable environment or cooperating with like minds to create a desirable functional community. The most important thing is, whatever you have to do, do it, if you are a smart parent or guardian.
6. PLANS ON PROTECTION, CARE AND GUIDANCE
Children are the most vulnerable individuals in any society, they must be protected, cared for and guided in the right direction. It is the responsibility of every adult to protect any child under our purview or around us per time from danger and abuse. We owe the society that much! No parent should feel they are doing their children any favour for being true to my submissions in this write-up, it is your obligation, it is their right. If you are an adult and you had been hurt or neglected by the society, please forgive. It is good to be good!
Make plans to ensure your children are well protected – while they play, from abusive contents via TV and internet, from bully, from predating adults and so on. Early childhood care, including immunizations and other medical care are very important. Parental relationship with children is important to ensure healthy emotional development. Mums have to be available to answer the questions in the minds of those adolescent girls. Dads have to be around to guide those teenage boys to properly channel their hormones.
Raising a successful child could be taken as a long-term project, a career, a ministry, or what have you. Whatever you like to call it, it’s obviously a meritorious endeavor. It should not be handled with kid gloves beacause it requires planning, dedication and diligence. This becomes a joyful reality when we do all it takes to raise a successful child.
